Take the Liar Seriously

10/27/2013

“The devil made me do it.” Have you ever heard that expression? Satan has been made into such a cartoon, that no one takes him seriously anymore. He’s a caricature of a bad guy. No different in this society than Dracula, Freddy Kruger, or the boogeyman. The problem is, Satan is real, and those characters are not. Once a beautiful angel, Lucifer was about as important as an angel could be. Therein lay his sin…Pride. Ever since being cast out of Heaven for his sin, Satan has been doing everything he can to separate as many souls from God as possible. It’s the only place Satan believes he can hurt God, the special creation, mankind. You and me. We must do everything we can to be ready for Satan’s attacks.

Reset Button

My brother is six years younger than me. When we were younger we
enjoyed playing lots of things together. We’d play games outside, ride bikes,
and one of the things we also liked doing was playing video games. As the
older brother I was naturally more talented/developed. One thing he would
do that did really bother me is many times, when we were playing video
games, and I was winning, if he became too frustrated, he would get up
and press the reset button on the game system. In one moment, he would
undo all the work I had done to achieve victory. Just like that he had an
opportunity to start with a clean slate. Sometimes we all need a clean slate.
We all need a reset button.

Avoiding Siritual Shutdown

10/11/2013

This past week we have seen the United States Govt. shut down. No matter where you fall politically, I think we can all agree that this is a direct result of pride inserted in the lives of powerful individuals. There is much talk and finger-pointing, but not much talk about owning one’s own responsibilities. In the King household, a lot can be said for owning your mistakes. Consequences are, in fact, lessened when you own it. When you do not own your issues, you let negativity creep in. When negativity creeps in, spiritual shutdown is ALWAYS the end result. -- Psalm 1:1
